Part of our mission at Gentle Shepherd Metropolitan Community Church is to experience God’s love, healing and justice with our community and the world. To that end we will not rest as long as people are being infected by HIV and dying from AIDS. We have a long-range vision of a permanent AIDS memorial that will someday serve as a reminder of what we have been through in order to never allow it to happen again. At this point in time we don’t know what this memorial will look like or where it will be. It exists only as a dream.

But we can’t let that stop us. Therefore, we have developed this page to allow us to begin collecting names of people who have passed away from AIDS. We invite you to register the names of people you have known, loved and lost to this disease. All these names will be kept confidential and each year at a special AIDS Memorial Service we will read them and light candles in their honor. Someday, we hope to gather around a permanent marker that will include the names we have collected.

Big Bend Cares is a local organization that is doing wonderful things. This agency provides education and comprehensive support to people infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. We encourage you to go to their Web site to find out more about the services they offer.

Please join with us as we pray for an end to the day when some bodies matter more than others.
